Mitchell Lurie

The Mitchell Lurie series of reeds are designed with the advanced student in mind. These reeds have complete consistency between each model, allowing you to transition between them with ease. The modern profile and tip are ideal for playing pop and jazz as well as more traditional styles. All D'Addario reeds are manufactured in heavily controlled environments, with specially grown cane for a durable frame and clean sound. Mitchell Lurie reeds' high resistance allows you to create consistent vibrato without losing accurate pitch stability.

Different strengths to suit your needs

These reeds are available in a variety of reed strengths, ranging from 1.5 to 5. With this breadth of options, you can precisely pick the best strength to suit your style. Softer reeds are often easier to gently through - they speak more easily and produce a bright sound. Harder reeds produce a darker and louder sound, however, they are harder to blow through and often need a well-developed embouchure to get the most out of them. They are great for high register playing though. There's no right or wrong reed strength, it's all about what works best for you - so experiment and you'll find the right one.
