Classic flanging sounds
Delivering the classic sound of vintage tape flanging, the Instant Flanger Mk II is a highly authentic emulation of the original 1975 studio hardware unit. Famously used on chart-topping records from the '70s and '80s, the Instant Flanger Mk II is a versatile tool that mixing engineers can use to create subtle modulations or to enhance the stereo imaging of your tracks as well as double-tracked effects and extreme flanging.
Create wide stereo imaging
Featuring dual outputs that create three different modes including Shallow, Deep and Wide, the Instant Flanger Mk II allows you to spread the sound of your channels with pseudo-stereo imaging. The main output is two bucket brigade devices in series, while the AUX output is from a single bucket-brigade device. The main output is therefore delayed twice as long as the AUX output, meaning that when configured to left and right channels, you will hear a pseudo stereo effect. Transform your narrow mono guitar or synthesizer signals into wide sounds that fill both sides of your mix. Combining the Wide mode with the low-cut control is an easy way to place multiple harmonies behind your lead signal.
Four flanging settings and three modes
The Instant Flanger Mk II features four distinct ways to control your flanging, including Manual, Oscillator, Envelope and Remote. In Manual mode, you are in control! Explore precise automation of parameters and control the 'comb' effect. In Oscillator mode, this modulates the flanging at a constant rate set by you. Envelope mode drives the flanging based on the signals amplitude passed a threshold, allowing you to use your Side-chain control. Lastly, Remote lets you control your phasing with a modulation wheel on a traditional keyboard or MIDI controller for tactile manipulation of your sound.
Presenting three different modes, the Instant Flanger Mk II offers you three unique sonic characteristics that alter the amount of phase-shifting sections to craft the perfect tone for your music. Shallow, Deep and Wide all achieve a different depth and rate of flanging, where Shallow provides a gentle and subtle flanging that adds texture and space to your tracks, Deep shifts up a gear and creates the signature crashing wave effect and Wide gives you a different amount of flanging within your left and right channels to transform flat mono guitars into huge stereo leads.
Comprehensive recreation
Down to the last detail, the Eventide Instant Flanger Mk II excells at providing you the completely authentic vintage flanging experience. The essence of vintage tape machine flanging is caused when you hold down the tape, allowing the servo motor to react by speeding up and down to recover the proper speed. This has been implemented to perfection with the "Bounce" knob, letting you convincingly add real-world groove and movement to your tracks.
