The Luna Dolphin features the classic concert body size. This shape delivers rich tones and clear sounds to accommodate numerous playing styles. The concert has become the preferred choice for ukulele soloists due to its extended range and 19 frets. The Dolphin Uke embraces this design by adding a cutaway, providing uninterrupted access to the higher frets. In addition, the concert shape is slightly larger than the standard soprano size, providing you with more volume to create those expressive soundscapes.
The Dolphin Uke's body is crafted from maple, with a flamed maple top finished in a striking trans blue finish to deliver a truly beautiful aesthetic. Constructing the entire body from maple yields an incredibly bright sound. Its stunning sustain and singing highs make it ideal for a wide range of musical genres.
Along with its expressive body, the Luna comes with a C-shaped mahogany neck and walnut fingerboard. This combination provides you with excellent playing comfort. Your hand will naturally cup the neck, allowing you to slide smoothly across the entire fingerboard with ease. For added beauty, the walnut is decorated with stunning mother of pearl moon phase inlays.
The addition of Luna's onboard preamp lets you take your performance to the stage. Instead of placing a microphone in front of your uke (essentially anchoring yourself to one spot), you simply connect to the PA or speaker via a jack cable and you're away. This also removes any unwanted reverb that you'd naturally get from a mic'd up setup. You also get controls over the bass and treble frequencies, letting you can fine tune your sound on-the-fly to suit different settings and musical genres.
Luna Guitars are as much a work of art as they are comfortable instruments designed for players of all ages and sizes. The company was envisioned by Yvonne de Villiers, an accomplished stained-glass artist who believed instruments should not only be a tool for music but an extension of a musician's uniqueness.
Yvonne took inspiration from her mother, Hilda Villers (a bassist for over 40 years), believing that everyone should have a guitar that suits them - no matter their age or size. Luna Guitars ensures their instruments are both beautiful and reliable, forever changing with the growing world, and embracing diversity. With Luna, everyone can have a guitar that will engage their mind, spirit, and talent.
