The C4000's warm and dark character is known in the pro-audio world as a great way to achieve full vocals, bright brass instruments or warm acoustic guitar tone. Beyond that, it is designed for miking a wide range of instruments from electric guitar to kick drum.

The AKG C4000 has a one-inch dual-diaphragm condenser transducer for a warm and dark-sounding character. Selectable polar patterns (cardioid, hypercardioid and omni) allow for a wide range of applications due to dual-capsule design and the C4000 is also one of the quietest condenser microphones available today by the use of ultralow-noise electronic components.

The transformerless electronic design gives high SPL capability and low distortion whilst the switchable 10dB attenuation pad allows close-in miking at extremely high sound pressure levels.
