Key Features
Product Ref: 112850
One of the most unique and prominent features of the Minimoog Model D is the meticulously hand-crafted design which is crafted by skilled technicians at the Moog Factory. The exterior wood housing is constructed from premium-grade walnut, which is then reinforced with an aluminium chassis for structural integrity and a sleek aesthetic finish.
The Minimoog Model D features the same internal circuitry and signal path as its predecessor, providing you with that signature Moog sound with the added bonus of modern enhancements. The premium Fatar keyboard is a new addition to the Model D's design, featuring expressive controls such as velocity and after pressure sensitivity for natural and fluid playability. This allows you to create any sound you desire from atmospheric pads to cutting-edge leads.
Whilst this re-issue stays true to the original design, it also features a range of upgrades and modifications. The trilogy of vintage Moog oscillators acts as the heart of the synthesizer, with military spec precision resistors. Modifications have been made to the CV, Modulation and Overload sections. The CV modifications are comprised of new outputs added for Pitch, Aftertouch, Velocity and Gate. The Modulation now includes an analog Triangle/Square wave LFO and Filter Envelope added as modulation sources. The output of the Minimoog Model D is scaled and fed back to the External Audio Input, allowing you to deliver overdrive. The circuit board connectors have also been improved for touring reliability.
This re-issue of the classic synthesizer retains all the functionality and the same design as the original. The original was first released in the 1970s and set a benchmark for analog synthesis, being used in a wide range of songs. It set a precedent for synthesizers, combining the sound of Moog's large-format modular synths with the convenience and accessibility of pre-wired modules. The Minimoog Model D has been used by artists such as Dr. Dre, Gary Numan, Herbie Hancock, Trent Reznor and more. No changes have been made to this re-issue, retaining the original sound engine and audio signal path, capturing the essence of the vintage-sound.
The analog circuit boards have been faithfully recreated using the original design blueprints and component placements. This captures the warmth and grit of the original analog design, using custom reissued transistors to deliver the exceptional sound quality and tonal character. The design has been slightly improved upon, with new features such as the premium-grade Fatar keyboard with velocity and Aftertouch. MIDI integration is also included, bringing the Model D into the modern day. This allows you to use your synth with MIDI compatible devices such as audio interfaces and DAWs, incorporating your synth into your music productions.
