The STM3 body is built from mahogany in the Iceman shape giving an imposing look for stage use. It is also surprisingly comfortable to play when spending time in the practice room sat down. Mahogany is known for its powerful tone and great sustain which will suit the articulate style of music that this guitar was designed for.
The STM3 neck is made from bright maple fitted with a rosewood fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets. It features Ibanez's Wizard III profile with a flat 400mm radius providing an effortless feel for fast lead work. The neck is joined to the body with a bolt-on joint allowing easy access to all 24 frets. Sam Totman is known for his incredibly fast and articulate lead lines and this guitar neck is designed not to hold him back.
The STM3 features Ibanez's own Quantum humbucking pickups to provide a powerful and articulate tone which will overdrive well and provide a responsive tone for fast-paced riffs and lead playing. The tremolo system is a double locking design and ensures reliable tuning and a great ability to return to pitch, even when you're trying out all the extreme whammy bar tricks that Dragonforce are known for.
