A Classic Reborn

With fun at the forefront of the design philosophy, the Mezzo is a streamlined version of Ibanez’ classic SR bass design. Its 32" neck scale is shorter than the usual 34" neck scale found on other basses. This allows you to fret with ease, up and down the neck and is great for those who are starting out or for experienced bass players of smaller stature. A side effect of the shorter scale also means that the bass tone has a richer low end due to the size of the wood. This gives you a very full bass tone which, when coupled with the bite of the maple neck means you obtain a versatile sound. Making this bass suitable to any style.

This compact bass is lightweight, offers a deep resonance and offers effortless playability. It’s perfect for those who are just starting bass, or for those professionals that want a short scale option for touring.

High End Electronics

The electronics feature a set of Dynamix P/J pickups. The DXP Neck pickup provides a firmer low end, giving you a mellow warm sound and the DXJ Bridge pickup gives your tone a little more grit which sounds great when playing Rock bass riffs. The pickups can be selected and precisely controlled using the interface on the front of the bass guitar, giving you a quick way to edit tone settings.

The Ibanez Custom Electronic Custom 2-Band EQ give you yet more control over your sound. Use the front plate knobs to attenuate low and high frequencies to get the exact tone you want. You can get any standard bass tone you want with the Mezzo, it makes sound craft as easy as possible.

Ibanez Bass Pedigree

The Ibanez story is an intriguing one. The first historical mentions of Ibanez guitars come from the 1930s, when the instrument sales division of a Japanese bookstore chain began manufacturing Spanish acoustic guitars. Their strange start to life was a sign of things to come: Ibanez regularly got into legal trouble in the mid-20th century for copying the designs of Western guitar manufacturers.

After a particularly costly lawsuit in the 1970s, Ibanez abandoned their strategy of using other established models as the basis for their own instruments. Instead, they began crafting their own, unique guitars in the hope of establishing themselves in the guitar-making world. This was a move that paid off massively - the individual style and sound of Ibanez's instruments set them apart from everything else available on the market, and the company quickly became a gigantic success story.

In the intervening years, a wide selection of some of the music industry's biggest and best artists have used Ibanez instruments in their music. Their bass guitars have gained particularly legendary status for their unique, wide-reaching sound. They've been used in the music of many well-known artists from a plethora of genres, ranging from U2 to Slipknot, Earth, Wind, & Fire to Carrie Underwood, and Al Green to Snoop Dogg.
