The Cuica is a type of Brazilian friction drum used primarily in Samba ensembles, where it has the role of a lead instrument. The stick is rubbed with a damp cloth, changing the tension on the drum head, producing a high pitched sound with different pitches and timbres. This WHD Cuica is constructed of lightweight aluminium with a polished finish, with a twin aluminium rim, 6 tuning lugs, Goat Skin Head and bamboo stick. With a bright sound and a large pitch range, this great quality drum will fit perfectly in any Samba band.
